A deep, integrative and human perspective

From the corporate world to accompaniment. My story, my training and the way I understand therapeutic work.

Javier de Miguel — Counselling Madrid

Before arriving at accompaniment, my path began in a very different place. I studied Law and Business Administration, and for years I worked in high-pressure international environments linked to business, strategy and performance.

It was a valuable stage. It gave me structure, judgement, experience and a very direct understanding of how we often live: responding to expectations, carrying responsibilities, meeting targets and trying to keep going.

But at some point, I began to feel that something didn't quite fit.

It doesn't always show up as an obvious crisis. Sometimes you simply carry on. You adapt. You numb yourself. You tolerate the discomfort. You learn to function even when something inside starts to lose vitality, meaning or connection.

In my case, that discomfort became a search.

Gestalt Therapy was the first place where I found a way of seeing that resonated deeply with me: a way of understanding the human being not just through the mind, but also through the body, emotion, the relational bond and present experience.

From there, my path kept expanding. The Psychology degree, systemic perspective, trauma work, EMDR, sexuality and other approaches kept enriching an increasingly integrative and human outlook.

I understand the personal process as an opening. A willingness to discover yourself, to allow yourself and to integrate. To look at what hurts, what repeats, what protects itself and also what wants to live again with more truth.

For me, it has been a journey back to something more genuine, more honest and more connected with myself. A way of aligning my professional life with a humanistic outlook that was always there, even though for a long time it hadn't yet found its place.

Hand in hand with that process, and with broad and ongoing training, came a deep professional change towards counselling and integrative therapeutic accompaniment.

Today I feel that my previous experience doesn't sit outside my current work. On the contrary: it's part of the gift. Having known from the inside the pressure, the adaptation, the disconnection and the search for meaning allows me to accompany others from a closer, more real and more embodied place.

I come to you with that entire journey: my story, my training, my sensitivity and my commitment. To offer you a safe, honest and caring space where you can listen to yourself, understand yourself and come back to who you are.

Integration is not about putting scattered parts together: it's about recognising they were never separate
