Nervous system regulation is a core part of my practice. I don't just work with what you think and feel, I also work with what your body does with all of that. This is where therapy meets physiology.
Book a first conversation
There's a moment in many therapeutic processes where the person understands what's happening, but their body is still in alarm. Tension that won't release. Sleep that doesn't restore. A background activation that doesn't respond to rational understanding.
This isn't a failure of therapy. It's a well-known physiological phenomenon: when the autonomic nervous system has been in alarm mode for a long time, verbal work alone isn't enough to regulate it. You also need to work from below: from the body, from breathing, from the vagus nerve.
That's why I integrate physiological regulation tools into my counselling practice. Not as a separate service, but as another layer of the work, available when it makes sense for your process.

Sympathetic. the accelerator. Activation, alert, action. Necessary for responding to stress. Problematic when it stays on chronically: anxiety, muscle tension, insomnia, irritability.
Dorsal vagal. the emergency brake. Disconnection, collapse, numbness. The system shuts down when the threat is too great. Manifests as emotional disconnection, deep fatigue, hopelessness.
Ventral vagal. regulation. Connection, presence, active calm. The state where you can feel without losing your footing, think clearly, connect with others. The goal of regulation work is to expand your access to this state.
The key is flexibility. A healthy nervous system isn't always calm. it activates, responds, and returns. The problem isn't activation, it's rigidity: getting stuck without being able to transition. Regulation tools train that flexibility.
These tools aren't applied to everyone or in every session. They're integrated into the counselling process when they make sense for what we're working on.

Objective measurement of your regulatory capacity with Polar H10 sensor. Resonance frequency breathing training with visual biofeedback. The tool that turns feelings into data.

Transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation. A clip on your ear that activates the parasympathetic system without drugs or surgery. Can be used in session and rented for home use.

Processing experiences your system hasn't been able to integrate. WHO-validated for trauma. When regulation isn't possible because there's unprocessed material, EMDR opens the way.
You don't need to "choose" between counselling and regulation. they're part of the same process.
It makes sense to explore these tools if: you've had anxiety or tension for a while that doesn't respond to standard approaches. You understand what's happening but your body won't align. You sleep but don't rest. You want objective data about how your body responds, not just feelings.
