Cardiac coherence: train your nervous system with real data

Heart rate variability (HRV) is one of the most studied markers of autonomic regulatory capacity. We measure it, train it, and improve it. with biofeedback, guided breathing, and evidence.

Your heart doesn't beat like a metronome, and that's a good thing

Heart rate variability (HRV) measures the tiny variations between each heartbeat. A healthy heart doesn't beat perfectly regularly. it varies, because it's constantly responding to internal and external signals.

High HRV indicates a flexible nervous system, capable of transitioning between activation (sympathetic) and calm (parasympathetic). Low HRV indicates a rigid system, stuck in alert mode. It's literally a number that reflects your capacity for emotional regulation.

The good news: HRV can be trained. And the training works.

What the research says

Lehrer & Gevirtz, 2014 · Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback

HRV biofeedback training at resonance frequency produces improvements in vagal tone, emotional regulation, and symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Goessl et al., 2017 · Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback

A meta-analysis of 24 studies found that HRV biofeedback significantly reduces self-reported stress and anxiety levels, with moderate to large effect sizes.

What an HRV session looks like

0'

Baseline measurement

We place the Polar H10 sensor on your chest. 5 minutes of resting measurement to establish your HRV baseline. You'll see your data in real time.

5'

Resonance frequency breathing

I guide you to find your personal resonance frequency (usually 5.5–6.5 breaths/minute). On-screen biofeedback shows you how your heart responds to each breath.

15'

Therapeutic work

With the sensor on, we continue the counselling session. This lets us observe how your nervous system responds to the topics we're working on. a real-time emotional thermometer.

55'

Closing measurement and plan

We compare opening and closing HRV. You leave with instructions for home practice: 2×10 minutes daily of breathing at your resonance frequency.

HRV training is integrated into regular counselling sessions

People with chronic anxiety that doesn't respond to standard techniques. Professionals with sustained stress who want objective data. Anyone in therapy who needs to work the physiological layer alongside the emotional.

HRV training is integrated into regular counselling sessions (€65/session, 60 min). It's not a separate service: it's another tool in the process.
